Born on March 5, 1947, in Arlington, Virginia, he was the son of the late Homer E. Duckett and Aundrey V. Duckett.
At just 19 years old, he was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War—an experience that reflected his strength, resilience, and deep sense of duty.
On November 22,1969, he married the love of his life, Lynne “Gaye” Sproles. Together, they built a life and shared 56 devoted years of marriage.
He was a true farmer at heart, most at peace working the land he loved in Culpeper. Raising beef cattle and farming were his greatest joy on his farm on Eggbornsville Road. There, surrounded by rolling countryside and beautiful mountain views, he lived the life he cherished most. His two brothers Wayne & Kenny have always been by his side helping to keep everything running smoothly on the farms over many years.
He was a strong, hardworking man—steadfast, driven, and deeply devoted providing for those he loved. His legacy is one of perseverance, quiet strength, and a life well lived.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Aundrey Duckett, and his son, James Ryan Duckett. His brother Roland Duckett.
He is survived by his amazing wife, Lynne “Gaye” Duckett; his children, Kelly Duckett-Corbin (Wes), Christy Harris (Noah), and Zachary Duckett (Alyssa); his cherished grandchildren, Ryan Duckett, Ryleigh Corbin, Cruze Harris, and Court Harris; and his precious great-granddaughters, Lily and Ella Duckett. His siblings Frances Hume, Nelson Duckett, Wayne Duckett, & Kenneth Duckett. Also many cousins, nieces & nephews.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, but his spirit will live on in the fields he tended, the family he built, and the values he instilled in all of us.
