

She was born February 26, 1930, in Gordonsville, Va to the late Charlie Brown and Lizzie Ann Burke Brown.
Joyce built a life defined by commitment to her family and beloved husband of more than seven decades, James Allen Queen (1931-2025). Their marriage stood as a profound testament to enduring love.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 74 years James Queen, brother John Henry Brown and half-sister Emma Jean Jenish.
Joyce is survived by her sons, Thomas Christopher Queen, wife Mary Alice, and Timothy Allen Queen, wife Katherine, as well as six grandchildren; Taylor Queen Dudley (Alex), Jordon Christopher Queen, Mackenize Queen Burlin (John), Charles Walter Queen, Ethan James Queen, and Eliza Grace Queen, and step-grandchildren Robert Michael Haynes (Beth) and Kevin Scott Haynes (Sierra). Joyce was additionally blessed with four great-grandchildren; Asher Dudley, Brooks Dudley, Daniel Burlin, and Sierra Burlin, and four step-great-grandchildren; Alex Haynes, Paige Watson, PJ Watson, and Porter Haynes.
Joyce was a member of the Culpeper United Methodist Church for about 70 years and active member of the ladies' circle at the church. She worked for C&P telephone company until Chris was born, when she became a homemaker for 63 years. Joyce and Jim were residents at The Culpeper for the past 5 years where they made amazing relationships with residents and staff.
We invite you to celebrate her life with us on February 10, 2026. Her visitation will be held at Clore-English Funeral Home, located at 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, Virginia, 22701, from 10:00 am, followed by an 11:00 am service in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, Virginia, 22701, at 12:00 pm.
