Lula Meyer Settle

Lula Ruth Meyer Settle, 89, of Rixeyville, VA passed away in the Fauquier Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warrenton, VA Tuesday, April 17, 2012. Mrs. Settle was born March 23, 1923 in Harris, Iowa to Harm Meyer and Anna Naefke Meyer. She came to Washington to work for the F.B.I, and there met her husband. She was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where she served on the Altar Guild; served many years on the local Electoral Board; enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. Her last occupation was of local babysitter where she is credited for being influential in the lives of many children.

Mrs. Settle is survived by her daughters, Lydia Settle Utz and her husband Wayne of Rixeyville, VA and Ruth Partlow (Rusty) of Rixeyville, VA; her grandchildren, Russell Partlow, III of Strasburg, VA, Ashby Feaganes and her husband Calvin of Culpeper, VA, Melanie Phillips and her husband Stephen of Rixeyville, VA and Thomas Utz of Warner Robins, GA; her great-grandchildren, Noah Feaganes and Ryan Phillips and her brother, Vern Meyer (Marilyn) of Worthington, MN. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence A. Settle, her siblings, Dorlene Stricker, Wayne Meyer, Milda Kofoot, Joyce Meyer and James Meyer and her parents.

Funeral services will be held in the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Kate Costa conducting the service. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Wayne Utz, Thomas Utz, Russell Partlow, Stephen Phillips, and L. B. Settle.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home.
