Robert Thomas Delgado

Bob was born in Cleveland, Ohio, grew up in Reminderville, OH, and graduated from Aurora High School in 1969. He was called to service in the United States Navy in 1970. He left the Navy for a time and later returned as a USN Seabee Reservist, eventually completing his military service in the United States Coast Guard, as a USCG Master Chief. As a civil servant, Bob was a master HVAC specialist, who supported the US Coast Guard, designing, installing, and maintaining HVAC systems on USCG Cutters, in the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, and Bahrain.

He was a fierce patriot and defender of our country, a proud civil servant, an amateur genealogist and historian, a hunter, a fisherman, a gardener, a jack of all trades, but most importantly, a loyal friend and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin. He strongly felt that you needed to know where you came from, in order to know where you are going, and that family is everything. Whether you knew him for 50 years or 5 minutes, and whether you called him Bob, Zip, UB, Master Chief, Dad, Grandpa or Umpa, you knew he had your back.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Suzanne Delgado (Taylor), his daughter Tracy (Carlos) Montenegro, his son Ryan (Katie) Delgado, his grandchildren, Isabel, Victor and Mason, his brother William (Cheryl) Delgado, 9 nieces and nephews, 19 great nieces and nephews and so many cousins that we lost count. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie James Delgado and Mary Margaret Delgado (Algeri).

A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA 22701 at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2021. . Due to Covid-19 restrictions, all guests are required to utilize face masks. Please join livestream at 12:00 p.m. at https://www.facebook.com/CloreEnglish/. Interment in Culpeper National Cemetery, New Grounds, will immediately follow the service.
