

Bob married Mary (Gerri) Maret on March 6, 1959, at Perrin Air Force Base in Sherman, Texas. They have one daughter, Rebecca Davies (Becky Allen).
Bob was born in Buffalo, New York on November 12, 1933, to Henry and Mary Peter. He is predeceased by a brother, Henry J. Peter (Mary). He is survived by a nephew Kenneth Peter (Sheri), and three nieces Karen Potter, Kathy Peter, and Mary Kay Jowitt.
Bob grew up in Columbus, Ohio where he earned a Forestry degree from Ohio State University and later an Aeronautical Engineering degree from the University of Oklahoma.
Bob received his commission in the United States Air Force in 1955 and achieved the rank of Colonel. He earned his pilot wings in 1957. Bob loved to fly. During his flying and instruction years he flew aircraft including the F-86, T-33, T-38, T-39 and EB-66.
Bob was stationed with his family in various locations across the United States where he held Director positions in program management, research and development and foreign military sales. His numerous awards and commendations include the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, and Air Medal. Bob was a Vietnam veteran and retired from the United States Air Force after serving 27 years.
Bob enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and playing golf. He served on his neighborhood Homeowner’s Board for many years and on the Fairfax County Dulles Airport Advisory Committee. He was a member of the Order of Daedalians, the Military Officers Association of America, and the Air & Space Forces Association.
Services will be held at 1:00pm on January 29th at The National Cemetery located at 501 East Chandler Street, Culpeper, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, Hospice of the Piedmont, or The Culpeper Retirement Community.
