A native of Rappahannock County, Shirley was born October 25, 1942 to the late Edward Backe Sr. and the late Dorothy Jenkins.
Shirley retired from Pizza Hut in Manassas.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 26 years the late John Edward Estes Sr. and their two sons, John Edward Estes, Jr. and Donald Lee Estes.
She is survived by her sister Rose Foster of Little Washington and half brother Bobby Backe. She leaves behind three daughters; Barbara Estes Sturcken of Venice Florida, Carol Estes of Manassas and Kimberly Finnegan of Manassas. Five grandchildren; Jonathan Estes, Bryan Plummer, Christopher Eustis, Eric Finnegan and Anna Finnegan.
The family will receive friends on from 6-8pm on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Clore English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Hwy, Culpeper.
A Graveside service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Wesley Chapman officiating.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Eustis, Aaron Hubert, Robert Calhour, Rocky Foster, Keith Sturcken, Jimmy Butler and Bryan Plummer.
