Thomas Mason Jeffries (Tom), age 72 of Culpeper, Virginia left for his final journey on April 16th, 2021, leaving the world’s worries as fading images in his rear view mirror. Tom was born January 30th, 1949 to the late Thomas Mason Jeffries Sr. and Kennon S. Jeffries Graves of Rapidan, Virginia. He was a lifelong Culpeper resident and graduated from Culpeper High School in 1967. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1968 and served 3 years which included 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. Tom enjoyed travel and after returning home he hitchhiked from Culpeper through South America. He then settled back in Culpeper, marrying Brenda Sue Jeffries in 1977. He worked in the greenhouse business from 1976 to 2005. He then fulfilled a lifelong ambition of being an independent truck driver. He enjoyed reading, travel, building demolition derby cars with his nephew Rainey Jeffries, telling stories, and visiting with family and friends. He loved his mother dearly and was a proud father. He spent his retirement basking in the sun, watching western movies, and driving his corvette. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother William Kennon Jeffries, and nephew William Rainey Jeffries. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Brenda Jeffries, son Thomas Mason Jeffries III (Kara), and daughter Susan Benton Suleske (Adam). His surviving siblings include Mary “Andy” Durham, Jeff Marsh, JoAnne Russell (Chip), Barton Hitchcock (Gary), Anne Graves Foster (Joe), and sister-in-law Robin DeJarnette. His grandchildren include Thomas Jeffries, Isla Jeffries, Truman Jeffries, Gregory “Paz” Suleske, and Felix Suleske. He is also survived by multiple cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, May 8th, 2021 at 11:00am at the Culpeper Masonic Cemetery. Fellowship following the service will be at the home of Barton and Gary at 19465 Mt. Pony Rd, Culpeper, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Culpeper 4-H Beef Club, care of the Virginia Cooperative Extension at 101 South West St. Culpeper, VA 22701.
