

Daniel David Skidmore was born on October 3, 1928, the second child of Harold and Erma Skidmore, in Los Angeles, California. He attended Betsy Ross Elementary and Venice High School. He graduated in Winter, 1946, from Venice. He then joined the Army and was stationed in post-war Japan with the 11st Airborne Division.
On August 27,1948, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Lane Dudley, with whom he had four children. He completed his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from UCLA in 1958. He worked for Hughes Aircraft for 38 years, retiring as a Chief Scientist in 1989.
After his retirement he was an active and passionate member of the Studebaker Drivers Club and the Avanti Owners Association, frequently showing his own Studebakers in their respective meets. His passion for cars also led him to docent at 2 renowned auto museums: the Peterson Automobile Museum and the Automobile Driving Museum.
He passed away on March 13, 2025. His wife Pat preceded him in passing. He leaves behind four children: Nancy Skidmore, Betsy Skidmore, Daniel David Skidmore Jr and Patti Skidmore, spouses Cathy Springford, Seleste Sakato, and Cynthia Skidmore, as well as six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be handled by Gates, Kingsley, Gates in Culver City on March 22nd.
