Darrell “Dale” Grant Elliott, 77, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at his home in Culver City, California. Darrell was born on June 11, 1939 on a farm in central Michigan near Mt Pleasant to Gerald and Veryl Elliott. He lived in Michigan and Maryland before settling in New Mexico where he graduated from Hobbs High School in 1958. Immediately after, he joined the United States Marine Corp and after four years of dedicated service moved to Los Angeles, California. In 1965 he married the love of his life, Josie Bueno Jaquez, and moved to Culver City where they raised their 2 sons. Last August they held their Golden Anniversary celebrating 50 years of marriage.
In 1963 he started working on the shop floor for Revell in Venice, California and through hard work eventually supervised all manufacturing operations. He worked with them for 21 years. He then joined Microcomputer Accessories and ran their operations for another 18 years before being forced into early retirement due to a back injury. In his retirement, he found greater joy being with his family and friends. He loved traveling throughout the United States, connecting through the internet, reading, playing with his sons’ dogs, debating politics, and especially watching his grandchildren play sports and dance. He had a profound love of family and country and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife, Josie; his 2 sons Darren Elliott of Manhattan Beach, California, Scott Elliott of Culver City, California, and their wives Melina and Chryssa Elliott; his 4 grandchildren, Jacob, Maya, Brennan, and Isabella; his sister Rita McGuyer; and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Patricia Waywood.
