

Leo Peter Verdick, age 98, passed away on the morning of February 28th, 2025, at St. Vincent Health Care in Pasadena, California.
There will be a Funeral Mass as a celebration of Leo’s life, on April 5th, 2025 at10am (PDT) at Christ the King Catholic Church.

A World War Two (WWII) veteran, his interment will be in the Los Angeles National Cemetery on a date in April to be announced later.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial donations in memory of Leo are preferred to be sent to: Christ The King Catholic Church, 616 N. Rossmore Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90004.
Leo was born on November 16th, 1926, to Roselle and Peter Verdick in Alpha, MN, where he lived until he joined the Navy at age 18. He married his wife, Barbara Johnson, on October 7th, 1950. They raised 5 children.
Leo graduated as Valedictorian of Jackson, MN H.S. Class of 1944, and with honors at University of St. Thomas in 1949, including a B.A. in Economics. He was US Navy Radar WWII. The Navy quickly recognized his accounting skills and kept him in San Francisco. He would go on to become a Partner in 3 International CPA firms and was an active CPA all of his long life.
In 1959, Leo and Barbara moved from Minneapolis to Southern California, and eventually to Los Angeles. He dearly loved his wife and children and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He and his wife Barbara traveled extensively, including to Mexico, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Alaska, Australia, Northern Wales, Vienna, and celebrated Midnight Mass with the Pope at St. Peters in the Vatican, Rome. In addition to his CPA career, Leo loved to dine out with family and friends, participate with the Holy Name Society, the Serra Club and Knights of Columbus, and sing in the church choir. Leo truly lived life!
Leo is survived by his children (and spouses), Michael (Linda) Verdick, Madona (Joel) Larson, Steven Verdick and Margie Slater; close family friend Radoslav Antonijevic, Grandchildren Maizelle (Michael) Morrissey, Danielle (Chrystian) Kaplan, Will (Karina) Slater and Adam Slater; Great Grandchildren Miranda Morrissey and Kai Slater.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. P.C. Verdick, wife Barbara Verdick, son Jeffrey Verdick, brother Father Jerome Verdick, sister Mary Kelly and sister Elaine Shannon.
The family would like to thank the care providers at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center (Burbank) and St. Vincent Health Care (Pasadena). May we remember Leo gladly in our hearts, he lived a full life and will be missed by his family, friends and clients.
