

Norman “Norm” Cahill passed away peacefully, surrounded by immediate family, at his son Norman’s house in Northridge, CA. on March 29, 2016, due to complications following Esophageal cancer. He was 74 years old. Norm was born in Los Angeles, CA. on October 15, 1941 and was the second child of Willard and Gladys Cahill. He graduated form Mt. Carmel High School in Los Angeles and went on to attend college at the University of Southern California (USC). Norm received a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from USC in 1964. In 1986 he received a M.S. Degree Business Administration from Pepperdine University. In 1966, Norm began his career with the City of Los Angeles as a Personnel Analyst and work for different city departments, until 1977 when he transferred to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). Norm was a manager of administrative services for the Power Design and Construction Section at LADWP until his retirement in 1998 after 32 years of service with the City of Los Angeles. Upon his retirement Norm literally embarked in a new adventure in 1999, when he boarded his boat the “Wandering Roo II” a 42 foot Trawler and began cruising along the west coast of Mexico for a couple of years. Norm finally set up residence in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico until his passing. Norm’s love for the sea began at a very young age when his father Willard “Bill” Cahill used to take him and his sister Gloria fishing. Norm’ s father Bill also had a love for the sea and used to live on Balboa Island in Newport Beach CA. Norm often spent time with his father on Balboa Island, where they would love to go deep-sea fishing on his father’s boat. Norm always had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed many activities through out his life which included SCUBA diving, waterskiing, playing tennis, boating and traveling the world. Norm spent the last few years of his life aiding the poor around Puerto Vallarta by working with many charities in the area. Norm will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his son’s Norman and Michael; their mother Jeeny and stepmother Lyn; daughter in laws Pauline, Colleen; grandchildren, Brittany, Brendan, Christopher and Megan; sister Gloria Cahill Tecca. He is preceded in death by his mother Gladys Murray Chapman and his father Willard “Bill” Cahill.
