God has added another shining star to the heavenly skies. I am so grateful for his guidance, friendship, and support during my JPL career.  Phil always had time to nurture, mentor and support all of us, especially me during my JPL career.  Thank you so much for sharing Phil with the JPL family and hoping and praying that the memories you share of Phil will lessen the pain of loss. God bless all of you.

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news about Phil.  I've worked for many people at JPL over the years, but I can't recall anyone as calm, personable, kind, and professional as Phil.  He will be greatly missed, and my deepest condolences to his family.

It was my great honor to work with Phil as part of NISAR SRB the last decade.  His brilliancy, compassion, and kindness will be greatly missed.  Race in peace, Phil.

I am so saddened to hear the news of Phil’s passing. I had originally met him years ago, as I was starting my career and he was an “assigned client” since his previous advisor had left. I was young and new and he was so gracious to meet with meet, and give me a chance to earn his trust. That started what would be  a long lasting  relationship with he and Coleen as we met and talked throughout the years. I was always so happy to be able to visit him in person, being one of my favorite clients, because I knew  he would always have a smile on his face with that infectious chuckle, and engaging conversation about anything in life. Dear Varghese Family,

I first met Phil over 2 decades ago when I joined Division 31. We affectionately called him Dr Phil and he was one of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever met. He always had a big smile for everyone and a ready laugh.  After he retired and joined the Standing Review Board for the NISAR Project, I always felt comforted seeing him in the audience whenever I presented. His warm presence was such a gift.  I feel so blessed to have known this amazing man and his passing was a great loss for this world.  He was such a special individual and he touched so many in the most positive ways.  I'd like to convey my deepest sympathies during this sad time and may fond memories of him bring you comfort.

Dear Colleen and Richard - 
I'm so very sorry for your loss and for the loss of Phil's amazing, bright light in the world.  He was my group supervisor and very briefly my project manager on MRO (I came on just a couple of months before he retired).  He was one of the most influential people in my career.  He was the person who suggested to me that I should become a project scientist (which I have become).  At the time, I thought I would never be qualified and able to do that, but because he suggested it, I didn't dismiss the possibility outright.  I so much appreciate that he saw a path for me and encouraged me to pursue it.    His laughter and positive attitude were unparalleled at JPL and I so much appreciated that he always made those around him feel good.  He will always be in my heart and I'm so incredibly grateful to have known him.  My sincerest condolences to you.  Leslie Tamppari

Uncle Phil has always showered everyone around him with a smile and unconditional love. He has treated us (Sonia and me) like his own daughters for which we will forever be grateful. I am so thankful for having a loving uncle like him. Your legacy will live forever in our family and in our hearts. 

We celebrated so many milestones of life together and miss Phil dearly.  With peace and loving thoughts to Coleen, Richard and the entire family.
