Roberta Hopkins was born and raised in Los Angeles California where she loved living with the majority of her family and friends. Roberta was the second daughter born to Regina (Tohono O'odham Tribe) and Lawrence Hopkins (Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indian Tribe). Roberta always worked at being her best. She lettered in high school, made Dean's List, and later received a college degree. At a young age Roberta found her calling and goal of working within social services to the Los Angeles American Indian community. Her career first got underway at Indian Center West, followed by the Los Angeles Indian Center and the Southern California Indian Center. When an opportunity arose for her to work for her Tribe she began working for the Torres Martinez Tribal TANF program in Los Angeles.
Roberta enjoyed traveling, worship, volunteerism, movies, and of course Pow Wows. If there was music playing nearby you would likely find Roberta dancing. She loved every type of social event and was a full participant in life. Roberta's family and friends were blessed to share her good times and join her enthusiasm for adventure and fun.
Roberta will be greatly missed by her brothers Dennis and Robert and Robert's wife Elena, her sisters Laura and Trinidad and Trinidad's husband Marty, her niece Rosita and nephews Dave, Mathew, and Benjamin, as well as her many Tribal relatives and close friends.
The family would like to thank everyone for their support and condolences."
