

He is survived by his children, Dennis in Winnipeg, John in Dalhousie and Kyla in Australia, and by his grandchildren, Jared, Shannon and Ryan, and by his partner, Susan Mallaley. He is predeceased by his wife, Mary, his siblings Donald and Marjorie, and by his parents, Arthur and Maria.
He was a retired papermaker at the Dalhousie Mill prior to its closure, he was also the owner and operator of the Bar Drive In Theatre in Darlington, owner of Valdron’s motels, inventor of a hydraulic woodsplitter, raised raccoons as pets, and restored antique cars. A Master Mechanic and garage owner for sixty years, he was the oldest licensed mechanic in New Brunswick, and worked continuously at his garage until shortly before his death. Because of his unique experience and skills, his customers came from across New Brunswick and Quebec to seek his services. He lived his life the way he wished.
A funeral mass will be held at the St. John Bosco Church, Dalhousie, Wednesday at 11:00 am.
Visitation at Maher’s Funeral Home, 421 Victoria St., Dalhousie, Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00, as well as Wednesday from 9:30 until time of funeral.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
