

Born on February 9, 1925 in Gaston County, he was the son of the late William Arthur Jenkins and Maggie Della Holland Jenkins.
Mr. Jenkins served in WW II in the Army Air Corps (China, Burma, India) as an airplane hydraulic specialist. He owned and operated Jenkins Barber Shop in Dallas for 53 years.
He was the oldest member of Gaston Masonic Lodge #263 and was a Mason for nearly 65 years, a member of Eastern Star for 29 years, and one of the original founders of the Agriculture Volunteer Fire Department of which he served many years.
As a lifelong member of Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and served on various committees throughout the years.
He is survived by his daughters, Vicky Ramsey (Michael) of Newton, Joanne Ashe (Ray) of Lincolnton; Glenn Jenkins (Beth) of Mint Hill; 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline “Polly” Carpenter Jenkins; brothers, Grady Jenkins, Austell Jenkins, W.A. Jenkins Jr., Paul Jenkins; and sister, Novella Pierce.
A funeral service will be held 3pm Monday at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Shaw officiating.
Burial will be at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by Gaston County Honor Guard and masonic rites by Gaston Masonic Lodge #263.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church.
