Dorothy Juanita Ross Fortenberry

Dorothy “Dot” Ross Fortenberry, 79, of Grover, NC passed away on February 25, 2016 at Cleveland Regional Center in Shelby surrounded by her family. She was born February 28, 1936 in Gaston County to the late George and Ada (Fields) Ross. She will always be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a hard working lady who enjoyed country life and worked in a cotton mill most of her life. She loved to garden, can vegetables and bake cakes.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gayla Baker and husband, David, Robert Fortenberry and wife Linda, Roy Fortenberry, Jessie Fortenberry; siblings Mary Pucket, Dora Bridges, Barbara King, Helen Nations, Margaret Sisk, Laura Christopher and husband Wayne, Pat Ross and wife Nancy, Archie Ross and wife Betty; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, William “Bill” Fortenberry, daughter, Ruby Ann Fortenberry; brothers, George, Dennis and William Ross; grandson, Michael Warren Costner and granddaughter, Laura Elizabeth Fortenberry.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Dallas Funeral Home, 212 West Trade St, Dallas, NC. Pastor Tim Elmore will preside.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
