Dorothy Grace Martin

She went home peacefully to the Lord December 19, 2025.

She is preceded in death by her parents George F. and Bessie H. Becknell of Pacolet, her husband, James L. Martin of Dallas NC, her brothers, Gerald T. Becknell and George F. Becknell, Jr. of Forest City, NC, her sisters Ruth B. Foster and Louise B. Baines of Pacolet, SC, Ruby B. Holland of Gaffney, SC, Pearl B. Day Painter of Gastonia, NC.

She is survived by her children, Daniel E. Martin of Largo, FL and Penny L. Martin of Bessemer City NC, three granddaughters, Jennifer M. Johnson, Michel M. Wood of Chiefland, FL, and Ashely Martin of Largo, FL; and 2 grandsons Wesley B. Melton and Matthew L. Melton of Dallas, NC; 8 great granddaughters, 2 great grandsons, and 3 great great granddaughters, and 1 great great grandson.

Dorothy was a member of the Dallas Methodist Church of Dallas, NC. She had been a Sunday School Teacher at Asbury Methodist Church in Pacolet, SC, and a Girl Scot leader in Pacolet, SC. Dorothy graduated from Gaffney High School in Gaffney, SC and Gaston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Gastonia, NC She practiced nursing in the states of NC, SC, and FL, retiring from Gaston Memorial Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held at Dallas Methodist Church on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 2pm presided by Reverend Caroll Flack and Reverend Billy Ervin. Visitation will be held 1hour before the service.
