Gladys Viola Powell Rhyne

A native of Rhodhiss, she was the daughter of the late James Edward “Ed” and Precious Pope Powell.

She is survived by her son, Billy Ray Rhyne and wife Sandra of Gastonia; brothers, J.D. Powell and wife Peggy of Port Orange, Fl., Thad Powell and wife Barbara of Jacksonville, Fl.; sisters, Margo Lyles and husband Don of Cherryville, Mrs. Fred Hendricks “Tootsie” of Dallas; sister-in-law, Dot Powell; grandchildren, Kristian Rhyne and fiancé Leah Ivester of Belmont, Anneleise R. Lichtenstein and husband Russell of Holly Springs; great grandchildren, Max and Sophie Lichtenstein; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Ray Rhyne Sr.; brothers, Ted Powell, Bill Powell and Miles Powell.

A funeral service will be held 11am Friday at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Dallas, officiated by Rev. Dr. J. George (Gil) Gilbert.

Interment will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am Friday at the church prior to the service.
