Abra Vernell Jennings

Born on September 1, 1953, in Tyler, Texas, Abra was the heart of her family and a guiding light to all who knew her. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, whose life was defined by strength, faith, compassion, and unwavering love.

Abra was known for her vibrant spirit, generous heart, wisdom, resilience, and nurturing nature, as well as her unwavering devotion to her family. She found joy in her church, family gatherings, her faith, and caring for others. She poured herself into loving and supporting those around her, offering comfort, laughter, and a true sense of home.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory her life partner, Charles Thomas; her children: Tonya Thomas, Aleshia King, Tamara Thomas, Charles Thomas, and Dennis Jennings-Brimage; her grandchildren: Patrick Henry Jr., Deontrick Henry, Shardae Patterson, Nickymbra Hicks, Quinton Peterson, and Hailey Peterson; her great-grandchildren: Winter Patterson, DaZier Patterson, Aubrielle Hicks, Destini Patterson, Zoe Patterson, Nia Patterson, Preston Peterson, and Paxx Henry; her siblings: Francine Lynch, Victoria Butler, and Desmond Jennings; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones whose lives she deeply touched.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Melrose Jennings Jr.; her mother, Flora Jennings; her grandson, Deante Hicks; her brothers, William N. Jennings III and Edjuan Jennings; her sister, Sherry Phelps; and her beloved aunt, Jacquelyn Medlock Harrison.

Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the life she lived, the love she gave, and the legacy she leaves behind—a legacy that will continue through generations.

A visitation service will take place at Laurel Land Funeral Home, located at 6300 South R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232, on December 22, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The funeral service is scheduled for December 23, 2025, at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 S R L Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75223, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Following the funeral, a committal service will be held at Laurel Land Memorial Park, 6300 South R.L.Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232, on December 23, 2025, from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
