

Allan W. Neustadt, 93, of Dallas, TX and Colorado Springs, CO, passed away on July 9th, 2022, in his Dallas home. He was born on November 11, 1928, in Ardmore, OK, to pioneer oilman and philanthropist Walter Neustadt, Sr. and Doris Westheimer Neustadt.
Allan grew up in Ardmore, OK, and graduated from Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, before attending the University of Oklahoma to study Petroleum Engineering. He received his Bachelor's and Master’s degrees from OU and went on to work at Westheimer-Neustadt Corporation, where he served as Vice President of Engineering. After serving as Vice President, he became the President of Pilgrim Drilling Company and later became a partner in Neustadt Land and Development Company.
In 1968, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Leaman, and their marriage lasted 44 amazing years until Marilyn passed in 2013.
Allan was a giving man and was very involved in civic organizations. He was the drive chairman of Ardmore United Way in 1977, then president in 1979; served on the Memorial Hospital of Southern Oklahoma Board of Trustees from 1974 to 1985, chairing the board in his final year; Oak Hall Episcopal School Board of Trustees from 1977 to 1983, serving as President in 1979; Dornick Hills Country Club Board of Directors from 1972 to 1976 and President in 1976; Ardmore City Schools Enrichment Foundation; President of Sunshine Industries, Inc. in 1972; Y.M.C.A Board; Salvation Army Board; Member of the Board of Regents for Mercersburg Academy; and a Trustee of the National Council for Adoption 1993. In 1997, he was inducted into the Adoption Hall of Fame for giving the organization a challenge grant that led to a computer system that was a key database system for work in the national and international levels of the organization's work.
Allan is survived by his daughter, Julie A. Neustadt and his two granddaughters, whom he loved the most, Stokli and Osha Ashcraft of McCall, ID; his stepdaughter, Linda Merrick and her husband, Ward Merrrick, III of Seminole, TX, and their children, Kate Merrick Smith and her husband, Chuck, and Joshua Merrick; as well as his great-grandchildren, Ward, Fisher, Sail, and Finnley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Leaman Neustadt; grandfather, Max Westheimer; his parents, Walter, Sr. and Doris Neustadt; two brothers, Walter, Jr. and Jean; his sister, Joan Weil; and his stepson, Matthew Leaman, who was survived by his wife, Dawn Leaman.
There will be a service in honor of Allan in Dallas at 1 P.M. on Friday, July 22nd, 2022, at at Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home, where he will be laid to rest next to the love of his life, Marilyn Neustadt.
