

On the morning of November 5, 2014, Roxanne passed away at her home in Dallas, TX after battling complications from a stroke for two years. Roxanne was visited and comforted by family and friends before passing. She was 52 years old. Roxanne was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 12, 1962. She was the seventh child in a family of ten children, the second daughter of Elaine Suttie Nevitt and Joseph Vicknair Nevitt. She lived in Dallas all of her life since July, 1962. Growing up, she loved the outdoors and played many sports. Roxanne graduated eighth grade from St. Pius X Catholic School. While attending St. Pius, she played soccer on a winning team that won a national competition in Memphis, Tennessee. Roxanne graduated from Bishop Lynch High School in 1980, participating in basketball and track, leading to three State Basketball Championships with her team and also tying the girls’ district track and field high jump record in 1978. Roxanne was tenderhearted and loved caring for people. She greatly enjoyed cooking and baking for family, friends and love ones. Roxanne is preceded in death by her father, Joseph (Joe) Vicknair Nevitt on March 27, 2012. Roxanne is survived by her mother, Elaine Suttie Nevitt, and nine brothers and sisters and spouses: Mark/Flo, Matthew/Kathy, John/Valerie, Renee/Gib, Thomas, David, Nancy/Victor, James/Susie, Andrew/Wendy. In addition, she was Aunt Rox to 27 nieces and nephews: Joshua, Justin/Heather, Mark Jr., Matthew/Christine, Adam/Jessica, Amy/Christopher, Austin, Rheana/Gregory, Michael T./Sarah, Paul, Nicholas, Amanda, Scott, Anna, Thomas, Abbey, Nicole, Taylor, Jacqueline, Kirsten, John, Lauren, Michael S., Danielle, Andrew Jr., Walter, Adair, and 14 great nieces and nephews: Harrison, Grant, Dean, Audrey, Luke, Colton, Connor, Benjamin, Sean, Adeline, Emma, Catherine, Mason and Grace. The family would like to especially thank Tracey, Michelle, Anna and Vicky for their dedicated care. Also, special thanks to the staff at Hospice Plus. Visitation will be Sunday, November 9, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. with the Recitation of the Rosary at 4:00 p.m. at Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating Roxanne’s life, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 10th at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Rev. Seán Charles Martin, S.T.L., S.T.D. celebrant. Following the mass, a luncheon will be hosted by the family at St. Pius X Parish Hall.
