

Anna Faye Thornton, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2023, after a remarkable 93 years of life, in Dallas, Texas. Loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Faye was a blessing to those that knew her. She was born on September 13, 1930, in Center, Texas, and moved to Dallas after graduating from high school. It was there she met the love of her life, Nelson L. Thornton, Jr., who she was married to for 58 years before his death in 2007. Together they had two children, Pamela Thornton Crossman and Stephen LeRoy Thornton.
Faye joined Neiman Marcus in October 1968 in the accounting department. After 30 years, she retired in May of 1998. She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church, Kiwanianne Club, and Casa Linda Garden Club. Faye was distinguished by her impeccable taste in clothes and fashion, as well as her love for watching QVC. Faye was an avid fan of Dr. Pepper, drinking multiple cans each day, as well as an animal lover, with a soft spot for dogs. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time in her yard growing flowers and spending time with her family.
Faye is preceded in death by her husband Nelson LeRoy Thornton, parents Annie Mae Kimbro Permenter and Claude Oliver Permenter, Sr., sister Shirley Permenter Stockwell, and brothers C.O., O.E., and Billy Permenter. She is survived by her daughter Pam and son-in-law Stanley Crossman, son Steve, Grandchildren Kyle and wife Tresa Thornton, Candy Thornton, Melody and husband Justin Sheen, Carrie and husband Doug Hanna, Cody and wife Macy Crossman, Lee and wife Tanja Crossman, and Gretchen Blackmon as well as 17 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Genell Permenter and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service celebrating Faye’s life will be held Friday, November 3, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Grove Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Paul M. Burns officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the SPCA of Texas, 2400 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, TX 75212.
