On August 2, 1934, God blessed the world with one of His loving angels, Annie Bell Spence McCoy. She was born in Wortham (Currie), Texas, to the late Alford and Clara Spence. Annie was the fourth of seven children born to this union.
She received her formal education through the Dallas Independent School District. In 1964, Annie was united in holy matrimony to Lonnie McCoy. From this loving union, four children were born: Lisa McCoy, Edwin McCoy, Sonya Coit, and Tyria McCoy.
At an early age, Annie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a devoted lifelong member of Living Testimony Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. R. G. Simmons. Throughout her years of faithful service, she wore many hats within the church, serving as an usher, choir member, praise dancer, baker, and lead custodian. Annie’s love for God and dedication to her church family were evident in all that she did.
Annie was no stranger to hard work and perseverance. She began her career as a Line Technician at Texas Instruments, where she faithfully worked for more than 30 years before retiring. Even after retirement, her servant’s heart continued to shine as she volunteered with Meals on Wheels through VNA. Her selfless dedication to helping others earned her recognition from FOX 4 News as a Dallas Hometown Hero.
On May 11, 2026, Annie peacefully answered God’s final call and entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alford and Clara Spence; her beloved husband, Lonnie McCoy; her daughter, Lisa McCoy; her brother, Leroy Granville; her sisters, Alice Weaver, Martha Mosley, and Callie Jo Spence; and her granddaughters, Tayra Lowe and Alicia McCoy.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories to her loving children: Edwin McCoy, Tyria McCoy, and Sonya Coit (Frank); her bonus son, Jerrell Daniels; her sisters, Clara Mae Thomas and Velma Spence Wilson; her sisters- and brother-in-law, Pamela Williams McCoy, Roslyn McCoy, Ronnie McCoy, and Betsy Redding; her beloved grandchildren, Kendrick McCoy (Teri), JoAnn McCoy, Felicia McCoy, LaKendria McCoy, Kimberly Coit, Amber Lowe, Alex Coit, Tyria McCoy Jr., and Tyaa’Kirah Waters; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; special friends Ruby Benson, Flora Hunter, and Annette Murray; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish her love and memory.
