Anthony Joseph Colombo “Tony” 79, of Avon, CO, born October 19, 1946 in Rockford, IL to Anthony P. and Ann Colombo, passed away on November 19, 2025 in Avon, CO.
He will be remembered as a warm, fun-loving man to all who knew him.
As a young man, Tony grew up in Dallas, Texas and served as an altar boy at Sacred Heart Cathedral where he went to grade school. He enjoyed football in his youth and helped his father at the Colombo’s Italian Pizza Bakery delivering frozen pizza to stores in DFW before his father opened Colombo’s Pizza Parlor on Mockingbird Lane in Dallas. He was a devoted son and his parents worked hard to give Tony a good education and a blessed childhood filled with a great community of friends, family gatherings, and trips over the years. Tony was adored by his parents and was taught to have a considerate attitude as well as a strong work ethic. Tony graduated from Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas and continued his education, receiving a business degree from University of North Texas, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He married and had a daughter, Heather. Later, Tony served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve as a BM3-Boatswain Mate Petty Officer Third Class aboard the USCGC HEATHER, stationed in San Pedro, California. It was there he discovered the West Coast, where he spent a great portion of his life, and later ventured off to Colorado and Arizona. His time in these places brought him many lifelong friendships.
Tony was a loving and supportive father to Heather and did not let the miles between them seem far; he would travel back to Dallas for the big moments in his daughter’s growing-up and spoiled her with memorable trips. He was a loving father-in-law to Todd, who was like a son and doting grandfather to Megan, traveling to Dallas each year to spend Christmas and for those special family milestones in life. He would often catch up with extended family and friends while he visited Dallas.
Tony enjoyed a successful career in sales and retired from Thermador/Bosch while he lived in Arizona. His neighbors, coworkers, and customers he met along the way were like family to him, many of them his lifelong friends. Tony loved the Dallas Cowboys, never met a stranger and was a fantastic country western dancer, which kept him in great shape. He was the most enthusiastic holiday game player and loved to tell stories of good times with friends. He excelled in bowling, snow skiing, and golfing with friends, and it was a source of great happiness to him, to reminisce and tell funny stories. The mountains brought much joy and peace when he fulfilled his dream of having his own place in Colorado, to enjoy the snow and those cool summers, and most recently, enjoyed touring his daughter and son-in-law in Avon. We take comfort knowing he is with his Heavenly Father.
Tony is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony P. and Ann Colombo.
Tony is survived by daughter Heather Ann McBride, son-in-law “SIL” Todd McBride, granddaughter Megan Sims and her husband Grant, extended Colombo and McBride family, and many lifelong friends.
