Arlie Anderson Benton Jr.

Arlie A. Benton, Jr. age 95, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Pine Tree Lodge Nursing Center in Longview, Texas. He was born February 1, 1921, in Dallas to Arlie Sr. and Edna Benton. He was a graduate of St. Mary's University and served in World War II before marrying Celestine Agnes Raabe on November 25, 1950 in Westphalia, Texas. He worked for United Gas Pipeline Company for over 30 years before retiring to Big Sandy, Texas, in 1983. Arlie always lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. Family, friends, and others whose lives were touched by Arlie are invited to celebrate his life by attending a service that will be held for him at Sacred Heart Cemetery Chapel, 3900 Rowlett Road, Rowlett, Texas on Saturday January 21, 2017. Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm at the Sacred Heart Cemetery Chapel, with Rosary recited at 1:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be said at 2:00 pm with the committal to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

He is survived by wife Sally of 66 years, daughter Pat Tiller McCoy and her husband Delbert, son David Benton and his wife Lisa, daughter Mary Howard and her husband GW; grandsons Cody Howard, Steven Benton with wife and 2 great-grandchildren, and Garrett Tiller with wife and 4 great-grandchildren; granddaughters Kristi Benton-Ridgeway and great-grandson, Brandy Howard Huckaby with husband and great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to; National Hospice Foundation and The St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
