

Arnina “Nina” Hancock was born to Pearly Mason Adcock and Hattie Bell Ledbetter Adcock February 26, 1918 in Doddridge, Arkansas, and passed away December 1, 2010 at the age of 92 in Dallas, Texas. Nina graduated from high school in Belcher, Louisiana, and earned her R.N. at Highland Sanitarium School of Nursing in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1940. She was OB-Gyn and Nursery Supervisor and Assistant Director of Nurses at Shreveport Charity Hospital. She married the love of her life, Warren E. Hancock, M.D., on January 3, 1944. She furthered her nursing career at Johns Hopkins University Hospital, Baltimore, MD., Hahnemann & University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA, and Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, LA while her husband was stationed in those locations with the U.S. Army. For the next 40 years, she worked as a registered nurse in her husband’s medical practice in Dallas. She was a member of the Dallas County Medical Society Auxiliary, Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and Lake Highlands United Methodist Church. Nina was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Warren E. Hancock, M.D., baby daughter Elizabeth Suzanne Hancock, her parents, and her brothers Kermit Adcock and Cecil Adcock. She is survived by son, Warren E. Hancock, Jr. of Dallas, daughters, Jan Nolen and husband Brian of Garland, and Debbie Turnham and husband Mike of Mesquite; grandsons, Joe Hancock and wife, Michelle, Patrick Drake and wife Erika, Ben Hancock, and Phillip Drake; step-grandchildren, Coley and Zachary Turnham, and Michael and Kelsey Nolen; and great grandchildren, Abby, Will, Matt and Emmi Hancock and Sophia Drake. She is also survived by her sisters, Austeen Gulledge of Shreveport, LA, Nonalene Dunlap of Port Neches, TX, Mary Frances Smith of Atlanta, TX, and Nelwyn Poret of Lutcher, LA; and by Elouise Rowlett, family friend of 57 years. The family will receive visitors on Monday, December 6 from 6 to 8 pm at Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 7 at Lake Highlands United Methodist Church, 9015 Plano Rd. in Dallas.
