On August 22, 1929 in Leona, Texas Arthur Davis Jr. was born to Arthur and Annie Davis. He attended school in Leon County and, there, he accepted Christ at Two Mile Methodist Church. After moving to Dallas, he united in holy matrimony to Mattie Furlough until God said, "Arthur, it's time for you to come home." Before becoming an employee with Van Den Bergh Foods Company, he served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a faithful member, deacon, and trustee at The Kingdom of God Church of Dallas. One must agree that he really loved our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He did not talk a talk; however, he walked the talk. For example, he never spoke negatively of anyone. His motto was, "We all have faults." Due to his strong sense of discipline in business and work, he was regarded as an icon by his family and many of his friends. His wisdom was shared with everyone in treating everybody like somebody. In essence, with refinement, he highly demonstrated the role of a husband, father, brother, and friend. HE WILL GREATLY BE MISSED! He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Aaron Davis; sister, Jewel Bluitt; sister, Essie Wright; and daughter, Jeannette Wango. He is survived by his wife, Mattie Davis; daughters, Retha Wilson (Barry) Houston, Texas; Janet Brown (Elder Robert); five grandsons, seven great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter (Julia); sister, Fessia Patterson (Samuel) Houston, Texas; brother, Bennie Davis (Lillie Jane) Houston, Texas; one son-in-law, Hans Wango; one god-daughter, Chasity, three sister-in-laws; Kathryn Edwards,Pearl Richmond and Faye Washington(Billy) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
