Asencion Sosa Jr.

Asencion Sosa Jr., age 78, passed away on March 8, 2024 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on February 28, 1946 in Houston, TX to Asencion Sr. and Carmen Sosa. Asencion was raised in Houston, Texas and attended San Jacinto High School in 1967.

He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War during December 3, 1965 through December 2, 1967 as a Specialist Four.

He married Theresa Rivera Sosa in 1988 even though they had no children of their own Asencion had 4 children from a previous marriage. He worked in maintenance at Dallas ISD for many years and would also repair all kinds of lawn mowers.

In his spare time, Asencion enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and fixing trucks and cars.

His family and friends will always remember him as a good husband, an amazing person and a friend that would help anyone with whatever was needed. He was a kind person that loved to talk to people.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Carmen Sosa, father, Asencion Sosa Sr., and sister, Aurora Saldana.

Survived by: His wife, Theresa Rivera-Sosa; brother, Jose Sosa; daughter, Diana Valdez with spouse, Fernando Valdez; grandchildren, Javier, Natalie and Ryan Valdez; daughter, Monica Sosa-Pena with spouse, Eddie; grandchildren, Victoria, Meadow and Mia; son, Shawn Sosa with spouse, Sheryl; grandchildren, timothy, Madison and Brooklyn; step grandchildren, Brayden, Kylee and Solozano; daughter, Jennifer Sosa; grandchildren, Kamryn and Kennedy Martinez
