

Viewing will take place Tuesday, November 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sparkman- Hillcrest Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, TX.
Born on December 24, 1924 to Alta Ellender (Decker) and Oscar Clyde Shouse. Aubrey, known to his family and childhood friends as Tag, was born in Tye, TX. He spent his youth in Merkel, graduating in 1942 from Merkel High. He was always a proud member of the class of ’42. After graduation he joined the Army Air Corps following in the footsteps of his big brother, O.C. Aubrey never saw service overseas so was one of the first released from service when the war ended. Through the VA bill he went to Texas Technological College and pursued a degree in journalism which he completed in 1952.
He married the love of his life Emma Gene Pearse on July 28, 1949 and they began their 62 years of marriage in Abilene. Aubrey worked for the Abilene Reporter News and San Angelo Standard- Times before becoming a professional school picture photographer.
In 1972, Aubrey changed careers and trained to be an Internal Revenue Officer. He distinguished himself and received awards for innovative ideas to aid in tax collection. He retired in 1989 in Midland, Texas.
Aubrey loved gardening, watching sports and playing with his grandchildren. He was always the one to be on the floor playing games or outside rigging a play house or swing. Papa was always ready to play and laugh. He loved pecan pies and coconut cake.
His faith in Christ was a cornerstone of his life and character. Aubrey served as an Elder with the Parkview Church of Christ, Odessa and many service roles in congregations he attended. He was a faithful member at Westside Church of Christ, Midland until the move to Frisco.
Aubrey is predeceased by his beloved wife, Emma, in July 2012, his parents and his big brother, O.C. who passed just 24 hours before him. He is survived by his sister, Ima Ruth Vinson, Hawley, TX, his beloved three children; Alan B. Shouse, Frisco, TX, Bill Shouse (wife, Dr. Theresa Shouse), Frisco, TX; and Judy Shouse Levy, (David Levy), West Windsor, NJ. Aubrey was blessed with 8 beautiful grandchildren of whom he was so proud; Cory Shouse of McKinney; Brian Shouse of Littleton, CO; Alanna Shouse of Anna, TX; Kimberly Bourland of Anna, TX; Katie Shouse of Houston, TX; Robert Shouse of Frisco, TX; Adam Levy of Washington, DC and Julia Levy of West Windsor, NJ.
Aubrey was also blessed with 10 great grandchildren; Travis and Haleigh Shouse of Anna, TX, Peyton, Emerson and Quinn Shouse of McKinney, TX, Bowen, Kaden and Kaya Shouse of Littleton, CO; Madison and Mason Bourland of Anna, TX.
His family would like to thank the staff of Manor Park in Midland, Prairie Estates in Frisco and Elysian Hospice for their many acts of kindness and caring over the last five years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project in the names of O.C. and Aubrey (Tag) L. Shouse.
