He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1956 as a supply officer abroad the USS Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr., Destroyer. He practiced Family Law for 40 years in Dallas, wrote many articles, and was an authority on law as related mental health, including authoring The Portable Lawyer for Mental Health Professionals and The Portable Ethicist for Mental Health Professionals (co-authored with Thomas L. Hartsell).
He is survived by his wife Donna Bernstein, his son Alon Samuel Bernstein, daughter Talya Bernstein Galaganov, her husband Misha and their children Sima Adira, Haya Gabriela, and Yair Lev Galaganov, granddaughter Destiny Castillo, his sisters Rona Solberg, Berna Haberman her husband Bill, and many nieces and nephews and their spouses and children.
Graveside services will be held at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
