

Today, we gather here to honor the life and legacy of a truly remarkable woman, Behjat McElroy. Her journey through life was one of courage, determination, and unwavering independence. From a young age, Behjat showcased her strength by embarking on a solo journey carving her own path in the world.
She was born in Kermanshah, Iran to Buick and Sourour AliMogadam. She had three brothers and one sister. She completed her education in Iran and became a schoolteacher. At age 22, she married Massoud Moayedi and soon after, she gave birth to her beloved son, Mehrdad Moayedi. Her ambition and determination led her to win a scholarship to study abroad where she mastered learning to speak four languages, setting her up for great success in her future endeavors.
It was during her time as a diplomat at the Iranian embassy that Behjat crossed paths with her future husband, Jim McElroy, who was a helicopter pilot for the US Air Force. They married soon after and they started a new chapter of their lives together. Behjat made the courageous decision to retire from her position in the foreign ministry and move to the United States in 1978 to be with her son and husband. As Behjat settled in the USA, she joined her family in the construction business, becoming instrumental to their success. Later, she founded her own company ”New Synergy” which won numerous awards for its home building ventures. Her dedication and hard work were evident in the thriving business she built and eventually she passed the company down to her son Mehrdad leaving a legacy that continues to prosper to this day.
Throughout her life, Behjat's love for her family was immeasurable. She adored her son and found immense joy in being a grandmother to her two beautiful granddaughters, Lily and Sarah; they were her pride and joy.
Behjat was a woman ahead of her time she was fiercely proud and independent. She loved to work, travel, read, play cards, and spend quality time with her loved ones. Her strength of character, determination and unwavering spirit were an inspiration to everyone around her.
Today as we bid farewell to Behjat, we honor her exceptional journey and the profound impact she had on our lives. Her memory will forever live on in our hearts and the lessons she taught us will guide us through life's challenges. We will cherish the moments we shared and the love she showered upon us.
Rest in eternal peace Dear Behjat. Your remarkable spirit will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing you. WE LOVE YOU!
A funeral service for Behjat will begin at 4:00pm Thursday, February 1, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225. A reception will follow from 5:00-8:00pm, also at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home.
