

Berdie Lee Montgomery was born on November 26, 1931 in Negreet, Louisiana to the union of Curnie Holbert Sr. and Thelma Holbert. She received her formal education in the Sabine Parish Schools. At an early age, she professed a Faith in Christ and united with the Antioch Baptist Church of Negreet, Louisiana under the leadership of Rev. C.A.W. Clark.
She met and married Roosevelt David Montgomery in Many, Louisiana. To this union six children were born. The family moved to Dallas, Texas in1949. In 1953, Rev. Roosevelt Montgomery became the pastor of the Greater Mount PLeasant Baptist Church in Dallas and he and First Lady Berdie remained members there for the remainders of their lives. Over these many years, she served the church faithfully in many capacities, including these: Sunday School and Baptist Training Union Teacher; Choir Member, Missionary Board, Chaperone of the young people, Mentor to the Ministers' Wives, Silver Saints, and many more. She was also an outstanding Spiritual and Motivational Speaker, who spoke without condemnation as she proclaimed the Love of God to all people.
First Lady Berdie Montgomery closed her eyes on earth and was received in Heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rev. Montgomery Sr. her son Robert Earl Montgomery her brother and sister.
She leaves to cherish her memories:
Daughters: Thelma Montgomery, Evelyn (Weldon) Williams, and Rosie Jimmerson.
Sons: Roosevelt David(Doretha) Montgomery Jr., and Paul(Jacquelyn)Montgomery.

13 Grandchildren and 12 Great-grandchildren, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, and other relatives and friends.
