Billy Joe McLeod

Born November 11, 1929 in Elba, Alabama to Jessie Mae and Tom McLeod. The youngest of 3 boys. Billy grew up in old East Dallas and graduated Crozier Tech High School in 1947. He married the love of his life, Virginia Miller, in August 1950. Billy and Virginia had 2 daughters, Cynthia and Gina. Billy was an electrician in Dallas for 69 years. He and his father opened McLeod Electric Company in 1961. After the loss of his father in 1973, Billy continued the company until 2016. Retiring at 87 years young. During those years, he made lifelong friendships and met many famous people. Being named numerous times by D Magazine as the, “Best Electrician in Dallas”. He answered the phone many times over the years speaking with a new client. The client would say, “he heard if Billy McLeod couldn’t do it, it couldn’t be done”. His answer was always the same. You got that right, what do you need. Billy spent his life devoted to his family and his work. In his early 40’s he took on the dream job of his life, building a beautiful home and barn designed by himself and Virginia. It was a seven-year process that he cherished for the remainder of his life. He was devoted to the Baptist Church his whole life being baptized as a child at Gaston Avenue Baptist Church. Pre-deceased by his parents and two brothers, Thomas McLeod and Gerald McLeod. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Virginia; two daughters, Cindy Kelley and Gina; son in law Travis Davis; three grandchildren, Ben Kelley and wife Suzy, Jincy Lowry and husband Michael and William Wright; four great grandchildren, Kaylee, Cooper, Isabella and Savannah; one great-great grandchild, Leah, and Numerous nieces and nephews.
