

Bobby G. Braddock (Bob) was born on February 14th, 1937, in Rice, Texas, to the late Clyde G. Braddock and Tiny Ann Braddock Turley. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Newby Braddock; Daughter Vicki Duhon of McAlester, Oklahoma and Daughter Valerie Young & son-in-law Greg Young of Georgetown, TX. Grandchildren Shannon Hackler & husband Brandon of McAlester, Oklahoma; Justin Barnes of Dallas; Halei Young of Oceanside, California; and Kristin Barnes of McAlester, Oklahoma. Four great-grandchildren all of McAlester, Oklahoma, Avery, Annabella, Isaiah and Mason. He is also survived by sister Peggy Gill of Irving and several nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, older sister Betty Dowdy, older brother Bill Braddock and Bobby’s twin sister Barbara Crowe. Bob and his family moved from Rice, Texas, to Dallas, and he attended Old City Park Elementary and Crozier Tech High School. He also received an Associate degree from Eastfield College.
Bob worked for 12 years at Dallas Transit as bus driver/instructor and later worked for Dallas County as Deputy Constable. He was elected in 1990 as Constable of Precinct 5 Mesquite achieving a Master Peace Officer certificate during this period. He was a member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church since 1975 serving as Deacon, Teacher, Bus Driver for Lost/Found Music Group, Youth Choir and Shiloh Youth Mission trips along with serving on several committees. Shiloh Terrace and the wonderful people of Shiloh held a special place in his heart. He also had membership in Mesquite Rotary Club, Mesquite Exchange Club, Special Olympics of Mesquite, Past-President Mesquite Republican Club and served on the Parks & Recreation Board of Mesquite. Bob loved to play softball and played on teams for Dallas Transit, Casa View Baptist Church and then played for the Old Pros Mesquite senior softball team. He also coached Mesquite little league baseball for many years.
After retiring, he worked a few years as school crossing guard at McKenzie Elementary in Mesquite, and started a neighborhood crime watch group. In 2003 he and Betty, along with church friends Dean and Phyllis Hunter, began a Friday night Hand & Foot card group of 12, and they continued to play for more than 20 years. This great group of friends made our retirement years such fun, and they are there for us, even though we have had to say good-bye to several, we thank God for the blessings of our friends.
There will be a Memorial Service for Bob Braddock. The service will be held at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, 9810 La Prada Drive, Dallas, TX, 75228, on Monday, July 29, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
