Brenda Ann Harris “Nana” was born March 8, 1938, and walked into heaven on October 31, 2025, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. She was 87 years young. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Brenda was Born in Houston, Texas and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana after the family relocated. She was the second oldest of five children born to DeMund and Perla Gibert Harris and would often share stories of growing up in New Orleans with her siblings.
She graduated from Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, attended Southeastern Louisiana State University and graduated from Brookhaven Community College in Dallas with a degree in Art. Brenda was an artist at heart who embraced many art forms. She was exceptional in pencil and chalk drawings and many of the family pets are memorialized in her pet portraits. Brenda’s life was a beautiful tapestry — woven with love, resilience, creativity, and grace. She showed us how to face hardship with courage, how to give selflessly, and how to find joy in life’s smallest moments.
Brenda was also a woman of deep faith and service. At St. Bernard Parish in Dallas, she served as a Eucharistic Minister, a Lector, and was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She lived her faith daily — bringing communion to those in nursing homes, offering comfort, prayer, and companionship wherever she went.
Brenda is preceded in death by her father DeMund and her mother Perla, her brother Raymond, her brother Norman and her daughter-in-law Stephanie. She is survived by her sister Cynthia, brother Douglas (Margaret), her daughters Denise (Robert), Karen (Mike) and Jackie (Jose) and her son David.
