Carl graduated from the University of Maryland with a mechanical engineering degree and worked his entire career for the Environmental Protection Agency. He was a superstar at EPA, but he was an even greater star as Dad and Pop Pop. Each time a grandchild turned 12 years old, Carl would take them on a camping trip to Big Bend for hiking, horseback riding and white-water rafting. On each trip he and the grandchild would buy a walking stick and adorn it with medallions from the various parks they visited. There are Edlund walking sticks all over the Dallas area!!
Carl began his environmental work well before the EPA was established and joined the agency at its inception. He worked as a federal civil servant for 50 years, both in Washington, D.C. and at the Region 6 in Dallas. He concluded his career as the director of the Superfund Division in 2019

Memories and expressions of sympathy can be shared at www.calvaryhilldallas.com for Carl’s family.
In all things that had finality and required his consent, Carl would say (with the best Swedish accent he could muster) Ya sure you betcha! May he rest in peace.
