Carles was raised in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Farris High School He married Joy Cerise Ogilvie in 1980 and the couple had one child. He was a drywall foreman for more than forty-five years.
In his spare time, Carles enjoyed fishing, gardening, spending time with his family along with playing several instruments such as the guitar, drums, harmonica and bass.
His family and friends will always remember him as a great storyteller, awesome musician, one that would keep things real, able to tell a funny joke, problem solver and a protective person.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cloris and Ramona; sister, Suzie; grandmother, Mary Ince; grandfather, Van Ray; and uncle, Addison Ray; Father-in-law, James Ridley Ogilvie and Mother-in-law, Wava Lee Chamlee
He is survived by his wife, Joy Cerise Austell; son, James Austell; daughter-in-law, Robin Owens; grand daughter, Cierra Owens; and great-grandson, Legend Rainwater.
