Born on December 10th, 1939 in Dallas, Texas, Carol attended Highland Park High School, where she met her high school sweetheart, John Michael Collins Sr. The two were married and raised three sons, John Michael Jr., Lang, and Noel. Carol went on to attend Southern Methodist University, and later became a teacher in Austin while her husband pursued his law degree at the University of Texas.
Carol, affectionately called "Coco" by her family, possessed an infectious sense of humor, and always found ways to make those around her smile. She was a lifelong learner, studying a broad range of topics including photography and tap dancing. She had a passion for travel, and over the years enjoyed many trips across the US and the world. Above all, she treasured her family, friends, and experiencing the most in life.
Community involvement was one of Carol’s top priorities. She was an active member of the Junior League and enjoyed YPO events with her husband. Carol had a knack for connecting with people, which was evident in her participation in numerous clubs. She spent her leisure time exercising or dining at Dallas Country Club, strolling through the Dallas Arboretum, or studying new exhibits at the Dallas Museum of Art.
Carol will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and she will forever be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her loved ones, charming wit, and relentless kindness. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert E. Lee and Leonora Lang, and her son, John Michael Collins Jr. She is survived by her sons, Lang and Noel Collins, and her six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Saint Michael & All Angels Church on April 20th at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the SPCA, an organization dear to Carol and where she adopted her dog, Bogey, from. Carol will be forever missed, but her legacy of love and joy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
