April 30, 1945 to August 6, 2022
Carol passed away on August 6, 2022, surrounded by her family in her home, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Carol was born on April 30, 1945, in Long Beach California, to Mary Francis Barbaria and Martin B. Christensen, the second of their children. She grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas, where she graduated from high school in 1963. She began a career working in banking, before marrying in 1965. She was the mother to Toni Marie Scott, James Ennette Scott, and Michael Joseph Scott. She devoted her life to her children and their activities, and she spent thousands of hours driving her children to music lessons, sports team practices, dance class, choir, church activities, competitions, tryouts, academic meets, summer camps, scouts, and many other activities. She never missed a recital, band concert, musical performance, football game, or basketball game. She spent time volunteering as a room mother, school activity sponsor, church worker, and community volunteer in Whitesboro, Texas, where she was also the proprietor of the Ben Franklin Store, and later Master Cleaners. She married her life partner, Earl Lee Lamberson, in 1985, and they enjoyed a true love affair and partnership. She moved to Dallas in 2001, where she repeated her years of selfless parenting activities by functioning as the third parent to two grandsons, by baking, gardening, reading books, teaching crafts, singing, driving carpool, guiding, and always loving. Carol was a true artist, especially skilled in sewing, crocheting, needlepoint, and interior design, and she loved traveling.
Carol demonstrated a deep and abiding faith throughout her life, sharing that faith with her children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. She was a devoted member of Central Lutheran Church during her time in Dallas, where she volunteered in many capacities. She and her dear church friend Jean maintained a Meals-on-Wheels delivery route, sharing that time and opportunity for service with Carol’s grandsons.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, sister Sherry Christensen, brother Martin Christensen, and son Michael. She is survived by daughter Toni (and husband Joe Reed); son James (and wife Moni Scott); grandchildren Jay Scott, Madison Scott, Jackson Reed, and Connor Reed; sister Marilyn Hall (and husband Robert Hall); nephew Bobby Hall, niece Caroline Hall, and niece Lana Clements; loving sister-in-law Ginger Kilburn (and husband Junior); and brothers-in-law Kenneth, Gail, Garry, and Wayne Lamberson. Her first cousins Debby DeLay, Diane Christensen, Susan Sutton, Jean Fraser, Richard Mayerhoff, Marilyn Mayerhoff, and Mardi Mayerhoff formed an ongoing circle of support for her.
The family extends its thanks to Faith Presbyterian Hospice, particularly her nurse Nelson, for providing invaluable support during her last illness so that she could remain in her own home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Lutheran Church, Dallas, Texas.
