Catherine Henderson Wade

Catherine Henderson Wade, age 95, passed away on August 2, 2023 in Denison, Texas. She was born on September 11, 1927 in Lindale, Texas to Lawrence and Pearl Henderson. Catherine was raised in Campbell, Texas and graduated as Valdictorian of Campbell High School in 1945.

She married James Horace Wade in 1946 and they had four children. She did a little part-time work as a secretary and bookkeeper until her children started school. When the children were older, she worked part-time for Dallas Christian Bookstore.

Catherine truly enjoyed working in the yard maintaining her flowers and water garden. She enjoyed sewing and most forms of needlecraft, especially quilting. She was an accomplished cake baker and decorator who regularly made cakes for a local country club, as well as wedding cakes for family and friends. She loved to travel with her sister Lela and brother John, and enjoyed bringing home rocks from places they visited. Most ended up around her water garden. Catherine loved playing games, especially SkipBo, and especially winning.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; all of her siblings, Bessie Henderson Thorn, Lester Woyd Henderson, Elvin Henderson, Lela Henderson, Henry Henderson, R. Lee Henderson, and John Henderson; and two sons, David Horace Wade and Gary Don Wade.

She is survived by children, James Lawrence Wade (Jim) and his wife Sharon, Sandy Wade (wife of David), Janis Lynne Brown and her husband Michael; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren as follows: Laura Wade King and her children Avery King, Joshua King and his wife Breanna, David King, Sarah King, Catherine Louise King (Caetie), and Ben King; Tamara (Wade) Trotter and her husband Donnie, and their daughter Hadley; Jeff Brown and his wife Krykit, and their children Phoenix and Maddox

Staci (Brown) Camillucci and her husband Berto Sanchez, and their children Lewi and Leo Camillucci, and Levi Sanchez; Dee Brown and his wife Blashia, and their children Mikah, Lennon, Harper and Violet; and Casey James Don Wade, son of Gary Don Wade. Catherine is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews among whom is Becky Wallace and her husband Kenny, and their son Korey, who endeared themselves to her in her later years by their love and regular attention.

A visitation for Catherine will be held Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX. A funeral service will occur Monday, August 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM, also at Grove Hill Funeral Home, with interment immediately following in Grove Hill Memorial Park.
