Cecil Louise Cole was born June 1, 1940, in Greenville, Texas, to the late Burnett Cole and Essie Lee Givens. She was the third born child of seven siblings.
Louise, Lou, Sister, Nute, as she was affectionately called, completed her secondary education at George Washington Carver High School, Greenville, Texas. She played on the girls’ basketball team as a starting forward where she was known for double-digit scoring.
Growing up, in addition to daily chores, Louise and her siblings, were assigned the tasks of cultivating and harvesting the various crops planted by the headmaster himself, their dad, Mr. Cole.
She met and married her beloved husband, Raymond Brown, Jr. in 1960. Being a military wife, she traveled and lived in different U.S. cities, as well as overseas.
Louise accepted Christ early in her life and later joined Living Testimony Baptist Church in Dallas under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend R.G. Simmons. She served faithfully on the Usher Board. Later, she joined Divine Inspiration Missionary Baptist Church, where Reverend Wade J. Simmons is the current and founding pastor.
She was known for her giving spirit, kindness and generosity toward others; and she loved her late pet, Precious, who brought much joy to her life.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 12 years, Raymond Brown, Jr; parents, Mr. Burnett and Mrs. Essie Lee Cole; and two brothers, Bonnie B. Cole and Tony Cole.
She is survived by one sister, Cecilia Laumb (Richard) of Cedar Hill; three brothers, Otha Cole of Grand Prairie, Marvin Cole and Phillip Cole of Greenville; and goddaughter, Arica Ebony Gray of Dallas. She also leaves many other family members, friends and neighbors who will sadly miss her presence.
