Cellious Louise Whorton Taylor was born May 17, 1937 to Willie Cellious Livingston Whorton and Ben Whorton in Mexia, Texas. Cellious accepted Christ at an early age and loved serving in ministry. Cellious was the mother to one son, James Larkin Hogan.
In later years, Cellious moved to Dallas where she earned her GED and gained employment at the U.S. Postal Service as a nighttime custodian. Cellious worked her way up in the ranks to become a postal service clerk before retiring after 30+ years of service. Cellious was a longtime member of New Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in South Dallas, Texas. After many years of faithful service at New Mt. Moriah, Cellious continued in fellowship and service at Bibleway Bible Church under the late, Dr. Eddie B. Lane, Sr.
During her time at Bibleway Bible Church, Cellious met the love of her life, Wilmer Taylor. Cellious loved enjoying life with family, traveling, gardening, and her pets. She also loved spending time with her granddaughters.
On Sunday, June 2, 2024, Cellious Louise Whorton Taylor peacefully transitioned at a blessed age of 87 years. She was welcomed into her eternal home of Glory by her, son, James Larkin Hogan; the love of her life, Wilmer Taylor, great-grandchild, Akiree Pointer; five siblings, Ben Whorton, Jr., Marlene Wharton, Willie Bernice Smith, Humphery Wharton, Sr. and Woody Wharton.
Cellious leaves behind a lasting legacy and was blessed to enjoy four generations! Cellious’ Life and Legacy will allows be remembered and loved by James’ daughters, Lakisha Moore (Jason), Quadonya Pointer (Willie), and Shuniqua Young; seven great grandchildren, Cedric Butler, Jayla Hunt, Jamison Moore, Travius Pointer, Kameron Callahan, Christian Pointer and Ka'vontae Young; five great-great grandchildren, Si'Yanah, Winter, Kyrie, Kason, and Layla. After marrying Mr. Wilmer Taylor, Cellious was blessed with additional adult children, Dennis Taylor (Wilma), Michael Taylor (Cynthia), Marjorie Sheppard, Melba Hubbard (Shelton) and Debra Taylor. Cellious was the youngest in a family of seven siblings and she leaves behind one sister, Barbara Nixon.
