

Charlene Sandford was born on August 19, 1928, to Nettie and Levings Sandford in Dallas, TX and left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 24, 2026.
Charlene grew up in South Dallas and graduated from Forest Avenue High School in 1945. She met David Ramsay from Chicago, IL, originally from Scotland, and they married on November 29, 1946. David and Charlene settled in Dallas and welcomed 4 children, David, Annetta, William (deceased) and Liz. Charlene served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, PTA member and President of Dallas City Council of PTAs, and seamstress/active supporter of The London School of Dance, and active participant in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Charlene also attended and served in the Presbyterian Church in many capacities. Charlene worked for the Dallas Times Herald in the classified ad department and the Internal Revenue Service as a taxpayer specialist.
Preceding her in death are her husband of 54 years David Ramsay, her brother Bob and sisters Margaret and Mary, infant son William and granddaughter Kimberly. She is survived by her children David M. Ramsay (Sara), Annetta Washburne, and Liz Thomas (Scott), grandchildren Lisa, Kelly, Erin, Jason, Jessica and Jorge and 7 great grandchildren.
Charlene’s family would like to celebrate her love of life and her dedication in all areas of her life - family, church and community. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. preceding the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30 at Grove Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd., Dallas, TX 75228. A private burial ceremony will follow.
