I have been friends with Charles since were were 10 years old.  He was/is one of a kind, unique, great sense of humor and really intelligent. He was kind and would do anything he could to help a friend. I think of him every day.  See you again some day Charles -  Love,  Barbara

Charles what a shock to see you have passed. I am beyond words. From our days at Cleveland State, you meeting your family, Phil was cool like you, and smart, Bill and your mom and dad. You all faced a lot in life from our conversations, yet you all kept your great sense of humor and the ability to laugh at it all. My God keep you in his loving hands, goodbye my dear friend.

I too was stationed in Wertheim, Germany with Charles. Matter of fact he was my roommate there. We visited once after we got out of the service. He definately loved life and new how to have fun. We went on leave together to London, England. I have stories to tell. Sorry to hear that he is no longer with us.

I knew Charles from our days at CSU, he was a smart and needless to say a fun guy to be around. He always had a look of wonder to the world around him and put his own twist to it. 

He was smart, very smart, but always fought the authorities, a rebel against the rules and their illogical conclusions for making them. He loved music; he loved to read and learn and he loved a good laugh, and a good party. His laugh you never forgot.

Chuck life reading from others have said was not a good person who gave a lot, did not live in the past of his youth nor the mistakes we all made make in the day, but lived for the future. He passed away much too young and knowing Chuck I know he was still youthful and full of life. May God Bless you Charles. The Baatz's were all good people.

Sorry to hear chuck is gone,charles and i were very mischievous when we were younger.He needed very little help from me with his his crazy antics nor i from him, but we both managed to think alike in our deceptive ways.It was always a pleasure to see him on the few occasions since then. I will always remember Charles as a person with lots of energy ,one of the few people who keep up with me still. I use to love when he called our cat Jeff-cote!
He could always make me laugh. Will miss him.

Charlie, I will miss our chats at chiropractic office about gardening and all the mail sending questions i had about sending my packages. You were a very sweet, caring, considerate and smart man with lots of humor to boot. I will think about you when I visit the arboretum, as I recall that was the last time we spoke, you said you were about to go there to take some photographs. Thank you for the chili pepper fruit seasoning you brought to me one day to try on my garden grown watermelon and cantelopes. You were such a thoughtful man with a kind and gentle soul who will be missed so very much by many. Save me a spot up there in heaven Charlie.

We took philosophy together at CSU, and you were an inspiration to me during my college years. I remember our long conversations about Greece, your thirst for knowledge, and your kind hospitality. Although I've forgotten most of my CSU classmates in the intervening 40+ years, I have never forgotten you.

Charles we will miss your humor, your smile and your love of life. You were the mad cook and gardener, you had love for people and their ways, which was the best part about you. Rest in Peace, and my prayers for your family.

Charles, my good friend, I will miss your humor and intellect, your passion for sports and music and the visual arts, our lengthy phone conversations and witty emails. Thanks for all the shared experiences beginning with university days and for all the territory covered by travel. We have our stories to tell. We laughed and smiled and consoled and appreciated all that a lifetime could offer. God will give continued strength and grace to Eileen. She will always have your love. I still recall the weird and great times we had in the Philosophy Dept at CSU, including Armour, Brimmer, Shmueli, and some of the secretaries. Rest in peace, guy! Rest in peace.
