Charles Edward Busch, 87, passed away surrounded by family on July 28, 2024, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
His unwavering dedication was most evident in his commitment to his family, his career, and his community. Charlie attended Forrest Ave High School, graduating in 1954, and went on to enjoy a distinguished career at Wonder Bread for 7 years and Mrs. Baird’s Bakery, where he worked for a total of 37 years.
Charlie is survived by his devoted wife, Rebecca Busch; his children, Sheryl Ann Pettengill, Michael Busch, Deborah June Works, and her husband, Randall Works; and Ed Busch and his wife, Cara Busch. He also leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including 11 grandchildren and several great & great great-grandchildren, who will cherish his memory and the countless moments they shared with him.
He is also survived by his brother, David Busch, and his sister-in-law, Clover Busch.
Charlie’s kindness and commitment to service extended beyond his family. He was a Freemason and a Scottish Rite member, and he served as a Deacon at Metropolitan Bible Church and Lorena First Baptist Church. His dedication to youth sports was evident through his coaching role with Dallas BBI and the SW YMCA, where he was honored with the Coach of the Year award and the Mrs. Baird Founders Cup.
Charlie’s passions included fishing, deer hunting, and, most of all, spending time with his extensive family. He created cherished memories that will endure for generations, a testament to his love, kindness, and hard work. His legacy will be remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
A visitation will be held on August 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Country Bible Church, 3320 FM 987, Kaufman, Texas, followed by a funeral service at noon. The burial and reception will occur at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228, at 1:30 PM.
