

Charles met his wife Norma at a church in Dallas, Texas, and they married on August 4, 1956. They were married for 66 years. Charles grew up farming and picking cotton in the Greenville/Campbell, Texas area. He graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas. Charles got his Associates Degree in Engineering at The University of Texas Arlington and started working for Earl Lipscome & Associates after collage. Hewlett-Packard bought out that company and Charles continued his career with Hewlett-Packard for 36 years. He retired in 1998 with Hewlett-Packard. After his retirement Charles started his second career in Real Estate.
In 1969 Charles and Norma moved to Richardson where they raised their two children, David Newman and Debra Newman Sevier. He lived in Richardson until his death. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His wife and family were the most important thing in his life. He loved to play golf, loved woodworking, and working on his cars. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, his parents, and brother Garland Newman.
Charles is survived by his son David Newman and wife Toni Tucker; his daughter Debra Sevier and husband Dan Sevier; his grandson Justin Sevier and wife Kandice Sevier; granddaughter Christina Sevier and fiancé Alex Jordan; granddaughter Caritas Sevier; great granddaughters Taylor Sevier and Madison Sevier; sisters Betty Mann and Nelda McAnally; multiple nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews; and many loving friends.
A visitation for Charles will be held Friday, July 8, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L., Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232. A celebration of life will occur Friday, July 8, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 6300 South R.L., Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232. A committal service will occur Friday, July 8, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Laurel Land Mem Park - Dallas, 6300 S. R.L. Thornton Frwy., Dallas, TX 75232.
