

Charles John “Chuck” Winikates 84, passed away suddenly on January 20, 2012 in Dallas, TX. Chuck was born on July 21, 1927 in Chicago, IL to Henry James Winikates and Catherine Therese O’Reilly Winikates. A WWII veteran, Chuck graduated from St. Ignatius High School in Chicago, University of Illinois and SMU Law School. An attorney for over 50 years, he helped to revise the Texas Banking Code and establish law regarding fiduciary duty. Chuck was a daily communicant and founding member of St. Rita Catholic Church, the Metropolitan Serra Club of Dallas and St. Thomas More Society. He was also a member of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; infant daughter, Mary Augusta; and son-in-law, Charles Richard Hutti, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Bonnie Mary Eichorn Winikates; children, Charles John Winikates, Jr. and his wife, Frances Anne Fazio Winikates, Bonnie Mary Hutti, Catherine Leslie Winikates, Regina Mary Mentesana and her husband David James Mentesana and Mary Elizabeth Winikates; grandchildren, Charles Richard Hutti III, John Winikates Hutti, Matthew Philip Mentesana, Mary Augusta Hutti, Catherine Anne Mentesana, Emily Anne Mentesana, Charles John Winikates, III; beloved caregivers, Francis Gonzalez Simental and Patricia Rivera. Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at St. Rita Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at St. Rita Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
