Charlie Davila, a Dallas native, husband and father of seven, died March 15, 2016, after a lengthy illness. He was 90.
Charlie was born in Jan. 15, 1926, to Elena Villafuerte and Jose Davila. He left Crozier Technical High School in 1942 to join the Merchant Marine and served as an oiler and second engineer on ships in the Pacific during World War II. He was an Army corporal during the Korean War and was honorably discharged from the Reserve in 1956.
He married Mary Louise Montes in March 1955. They settled in Irving, where he raised seven children and lived the rest of his life. He worked as an electrician for many years. His marriage ended in divorce in 1981.
Charlie is survived by four daughters, Maryann, Victoria, Helen, and Elizabeth; three sons, John, Robert and Paul; a sister, Leona del Castillo; a brother, Raymond; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Gilbert and two sisters, Elvira “Kitty” Mendias and Virginia D. Lopez.
The Davila Family invites you to join in remembering and celebrating the life of Charlie. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Hill Funeral Home on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 10AM.
