

Dallas, Texas. Clara received her formal education from Lincoln High School. She further her education at
El Centro College in Dallas, Texas. She started her career by becoming an office helper, then a
Special Education teacher, and an Administrative Assistant for D.I.S.D. until she retired. Soon after, she started her own business under the name “Turner Tax Service” for over 25 years.
She also received certificates in Motorcycle Technician, and Small Engine Technician. Clara accepted Christ as her savior at Seven Day Adventist Church under the Pastor, Marc McCallister. She married Roderick W. Carter on October 30, 1993 in Dallas, Texas.
In her personal leisure she enjoyed reading, taking care of her kids (4 Dogs) Mya, Baby, Lulla May, Caillou, and (2 cat) Sadie and Misty. She loved to travel, watching movies, and was a people’s person. No one was a stranger to her.
She departed on September 13, 2025 and was proceeded in death by her mother, Alphinia Bagley; father, Joseph Yancy; husband, Roderick Carter; brother, Charles Washington; two nephews, Rodney Washington and Daryl Washington; sister, Clara Bufford; (cat) Misty.
Cookie is survived by sister, Viola Pope; two brothers, Charles Bagley (Etta); Aaron Washington; mother-in law, Carrie Carter Bowser; and her cat, Sadie.
