Clarence Earl Sims born November 6, 1935, was the third child of the late Everett & Gertrude Thomas Sims in West Point, TX. He received his education in Elementary School in West Point, TX, and soon after attended Randolph High School in La Grange, TX.
In June 1954 He enlisted in the US Air Force and served three years until being Honorably discharged in December 1957. Clarence hung out in Austin, TX until 1958 and moved to Dallas, TX in 1981 where he attended the Texas Institute of Technology and got a technical degree in Electronics, and became a graduate in 1960. He then later met and married Erma Reeves and to that union, they adopted Ronnie Earl Sims, a son of his sister, Mae Pearl Sims.
Clarence united and joined Rice Chapel in 1981 under the Rev. Revel Simpson and became a member of the Usher board from 1981 to the present. He also served as Steward pro tem from 1981 to 2004 and remained a steward until 2010 and held another office at Rice Chapel. Clarence worked at Texas Instruments from 1964 until 1989 when he retired. While working at TI he also attended Mountain View Jr. College and received an associate degree in Electronics.
Later he met and married Evelyn Thomas on August 31, 1991, at Rice Chapel Church with Rev. Richard Tankerson.
On Saturday, May 4, 2024, Clarence Earl Sims, entered into his eternal home of Glory. He was preceded by his late wife, Erma Sims; three brothers, Everett Sims, Jr., Chester Sims and Benjamin Sims and two sisters, Bernice Barfield, and Mae Pearl Newby.
Clarence leaves to cherish his memories, his precious devoted and loving wife for Thirty-two years, Evelyn Sims Dallas, TX; four sons, Ronnie Earl Sims Austin, TX, Benjamin Ross, Hassell Ross, and Richard Thomas all of Dallas, TX; five granddaughters, three grandsons, six great-grandchildren; one brother, George Sims (Gloria) Austin, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, and many more to cherish his memories.
